Story

A huge thank you to all that came to the Caerphilly Comic Con on the 9th June.  Thanks for the kind words and comments on the day. Also many thanks for the donations in all the buckets, your kind support in buying from our tuck shop and finally the bidding war during the charity auction, that was a lot of fun!

All the donations are being collected and the final figure will be posted shortly on all sites.

The page will stay open for donations until the end of the month as we are still collecting funds.  Best Wishes Vik

I own and run Caerphilly Comic Con and I have just finished running the full Newport Wales Marathon on 29th April.  It is the first of three fundraising events I am completing to raise £10,000 for Sense Cymru's
TouchBase Centre in Caerphilly.

The funds will go to help build a brand new Sensory room including equipment such as:- Light up ball pool, Music vibration system and bubble tubes etc for the TouchBase Centre which supports people of all ages who are deaf blind, have sensory impairments or complex needs and communication problems, to enjoy more independent lives.

The Centre not only supports the local Caerphilly Borough, but the surrounding boroughs outside Caerphilly. The centre provides opportunities for these individuals to enjoy a better quality and more fulfilled life whilst promoting independent living skills and choice making.

I feel that the fundraising at my Caerphilly Comic Con 9th June event needed more events to help raise the £10k needed to get the room setup and running, so have added the ‘Assault on Mount Doom’ (Pen-Y-Fan) sponsored Mountain walk as the next challenge.

On the 3rd June, I will dress up as Gandalf and lead the Fellowship up to the top of Mount Doom (Pen-Y-Fan).  I hope to be joined by over 100 families as dressed up as characters from the Lord of the Rings Fellowship.  Adults will dress as Humans, Elves, Dwarves and the children all coming as Hobbits.

Please Join and help support this great voluntary day out on the 3rd June 10am at the Pen-Y-Fan car park.  It is a voluntary event which any family or people can take part and all I ask is that you come dressed up a fantasy character and make a donation for taking part.

I hope to lead Wales’s largest gathering of the Fellowship up Mount Doom (Pen-Y-Fan).

I am looking for the whole community; local and business to help by generously donating to a great cause, whilst also having lots of fun themselves, bringing a whole community and surrounding areas together.

Follow me here and on Caerphilly Comic Con Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and my website page for regular updates.

I would like to thank Weirdtriangle, based in Caerphilly for sponsoring the running shirt for the Newport Marathon.

Also to Cardiff based, Marigold Costumes for the loan of the Gandalf costume and the kind donation of fabric to make a small number of Hobbit cloaks.  I would like to also thank Alex White of TheWodewose for sponsoring the making of the Gandalf sword and staff and the
Morrisons Caerphilly store for kind donation of 100 water bottles.

If you are able to donate or sponsor, your support will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Vik Yadh
