I am intending to raise money for Animals Asia to assist their programme of freeing and looking after bears that are being used to farm bile for chinese medicine, and to continue their work to end this and other abusive and exploitative situations concerning wild animals in captivity on that continent.

The bears are often kept in small cages, in squalid conditions - they experience painful and repeated removal of their bile they were born to roam free and live with their cycles of nature.

Catheterization involves pushing a steel or perspex catheter through the bear's abdomen and into the gallbladder. The full-jacket method uses a permanent catheter tube to extract the bile which is then collected in a plastic bag set in a metal box worn by the bear.

This is torture.

Through Covid-19 the charity has been hit with financial difficulties as many have, but I hope to support them in their rescuing and 'retiring' the bears so that they may have some enjoyment of life.
