Story

This fundraising is a continuation of my efforts to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of my wonderful Grandma Joan, who lost her battle with cancer on Monday 16th March 2015, aged 75.

On Saturday 4th July 2015, I took part in the 'Wiggle Steelman Aquathlon', raising a total of £1,012.00 for Cancer Research UK. Before I continue, I wish to thank everyone who sponsored me for taking part in that event. We absolutely smashed the initial target of £665 and I truly am proud to have raised that much money for the charity in my Grandma's name. But, the fundraising doesn't stop there.

On Sunday 4th October 2015, I will be boxing at an Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) event at Rainton Meadows Arena, Durham, in order to continue my fundraising efforts for Cancer Research UK. You may ask 'why boxing?', so let me explain...

Over the last few years I have grown to become a great fan of the sport; I follow the pro-ranks closely and have boxed myself for over a year now, though I'm yet to have a bout. UWCB appeals to me as it's for beginners, like myself, who are looking for their first bout. Most importantly however, UWCB events raise money for Cancer Research UK. Since its birth, UWCB in the UK has raised a staggering £1.7 million for Cancer Research. Therefore, it was a simple decision for me to sign up to box at their Durham event and continue my fundraising efforts for Cancer Research UK in memory of my Grandma Joan.

By taking part in an UWCB event, I am required to raise a minimum of £50 for Cancer Research UK. However, I've set my target at £400. Obviously, I'd love to go above and beyond that figure and smash my target in the same way we did last time out. Therefore, if you'd like to donate, please do so as generously as you can. No matter how small or large, it will be greatly appreciated by the charity and myself. My friend and training partner Matthew Lynn is also boxing on the event to raise money in memory of his mother and father who sadly lost her battles with cancer in 2010. Please sponsor him too if you can:

Finally, if anyone would like to come and watch me take a good pasting (don't tell my Mam, I told her I'm good in order to calm her nerves), then tickets are £20 each. Just let me know if you'd like to come along, it's all for a great cause.

Thank you very much,

Callum

P.S.

I ask again that if you knew my Grandma Joan personally and decide to donate, please feel free to share your memories of her.
