We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Every year I am setting myself a challenge to help raise as much money as possible in memory of our mate Kane.

As he was a massive Leeds United fan and I am a massive Millwall Fan, it is only fitting that I cycle from Elland Road to The Den. I am giving myself 4 days to complete the 221mile cycle and one month to prepare.

Please take the time to read Kane's story  below as written by his mum, Ruth.

Any amount will be welcome. Thank you x

Kane was diagnosed with testicular cancer 10th October 2014 aged 28 and fought this cruel disease with dignity and strengh for a year before he past away leaving his wife and soulmate Jenny and 3 year old son Carlton. He never complained once and always managed a smile.

Kane endured 2 rounds of Chemo then intensive Chemo but this was unsuccessful so the only option left was for surgery to remove the tumour. It was at this stage we found out the cancer that remained was a chemo resistant cancer called terratoma.

4 weeks after Kane's surgery his blood tests for cancer were clear and we were elated he had beaten it. We had a further 6 weeks with Kane still showing clear for cancer until on Wednesday 30th September 2015 Kane received the news the cancer was back 4 times more aggressive. If this wasn't devistating enough the following day Kane was rushed into hospital in a lot of pain. The further devastating news that an artery in his liver has burst and his liver was compact with terratoma cancer.

Kane remained in intensive care for the following few days where he passed away peacefully on the 8th October 2015 surrounded by his close family.

The Teenage Cancer Trust ward took great care of Kane during his stays in hospital providing home from home surroundings and the staff were amazing, no time limits on how long we wanted to be with Kane and nothing was too much trouble for him. They support a wide variety of things so in Kane's memory we want raise as much money as we can to give something back to Teenage Cancer Trust.
