Story

Hello my name is Fonz Chamberlain and I have been a broadcaster since the late 1990s. Over those years I have supported a range of charities and good causes, using my experience in broadcasting to give something back.

My current campaign is to support the work of Fight Bladder Cancer.

Why Fight Bladder Cancer ?

I first heard about Fight Bladder Cancer when a man named Dave King, who was living in the same village I was at the time, was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer.

I watched this amazing man go through what was a massive battle and he never once lost spirit or hope, a true inspiration.

While he was going through treatment I would often see him in the village and one day he got talking about the work of Fight Bladder Cancer.

I was amazed by what they did, they were created from one mans dream, Andrew Winterbottom, also a Bladder Cancer sufferer, to offer help and support to others like him, who were also suffering from it.

I was amazed to find that Bladder Cancer is not one of the common supported causes, in fact there is not much information given out and Fight Bladder Cancer was filling a much needed gap to help those who needed support.

Fight Bladder Cancer also stood out to me because they do something I've not often seen and really like, and that is not only support sufferers but also those caring for sufferers.

The people who care for loved ones or family member, who are suffering often get forgot, and this can not only be a emotional time, it can also be physically and mentally draining. Lots of careers are forgotten and struggle with supporting the one they are caring for, but Fight Bladder Cancer is different, they like the sufferer are not forgotten, they are also offered help and support.

I really like and support the work of the charity and hearing some of the stories and work they have done, I know they are a worthwhile cause to donate money too.

Please. Please give what you can, even if it's £1, every penny will be used to help sufferers and careers.

Please tune into the 12 hour broadcast on Friday 23rd November 2018 from 9am - 9pm via facebook.com/thecambridgeshistorian
