In August and September this year, Rio plays host to the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will be a time of great celebration for the host nation; a time when the world watches its best and brightest compete for Olympic and Paralympic glory. And we are a big part of bringing those stories to the world! Every one of us: the prep team back at base, and our on site crew.

Together, we have already achieved great things, and we are right to celebrate this. And it is right that we now enjoy the Games and the experiences still ahead of us.

But we can't forget that such events come with a cost to our hosts as well. Billions in fact. After the celebrations and competition are over, and once the cameras stop rolling, the 'return to normal' can be pretty tough for those left behind.

Our work in Rio is the perfect opportunity to join together and make a real difference to some of those we leave in our wake. Over the past 10 months, I have been investigating how best to do this. In that time, I identified a charity, met with its trustees, spoke with our company execs and can now launch our team fundraising plan...

The chosen charity is Task Brasil - a small organisation doing big things to impact the lives of Rio's children, empowering at risk and street kids towards a better future through education, connection and the security of having a place where they are safe.

Established in 1993, and based at 'Casa Jimmy' in Rio de Janeiro, the Task Brasil team of volunteers and teachers offer a safe place for vulnerable kids to go and build IT skills, study English, learn to swim, play sports, play music, and spend time together off the streets. The Task Brasil team are doing excellent work day-to-day with comparatively very little. I know that our combined donations will give them a real boost, allowing them to undertake vital maintenance and upgrade work on the facilities which are so crucial to their work, as well as providing funding for teaching staff.

Here is what our target goal is working towards: £4,000 = swimming pool upgrade & maintenance, plus a lifeguard for one year; £7,800 = swimming pool etc, plus teacher for one year; and £10,000 = swimming pool etc, teacher for one year, plus full sports court upgrade.

Our fundraising goals are ambitious, yet I have already secured the promise of matched corporate funding from Camera Corps and Bexel execs, with a combined total of up to £10,000 ready and waiting to be donated by the company, in addition to whatever we can raise as a team.

Let's see what we can do to make them meet this promise!
