Headway Ayrshire promotes understanding of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and provides information, support and services througout Ayrshire to people with (ABI), their families and carers. We also run Community Rehabilitation Groups for people with ABI. Carers Groups and Carers Eduction Groups.

Story

As many of you will be aware, on the 6th March this year, my mum, Sadie suffered from a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage, due to an aneurysm. Following this she spent 12 weeks in recovery within 3 different hospitals in Scotland.

This year I have chosen to run the Loch Ness Marathon in order to raise money and awareness for Headway (Ayrshire). Headway are an incredible charity which provide much needed help and support to those with Brain/head injury and their families. Headway Ayrshire's trained staff and volunteers work together to improve knowledge and understanding of brain/head injury as well as providing a vital community rehabilitation service to these patients.

Thanks to the care and long term support offered by Headway Ayrshire, my mum is now able to continue her recovery at home with the support of our family and professionals. For this, we cannot thank the medical staff involved in my mum's care and Headway Ayrshire enough!

Every penny which is donated will be so greatly appreciated by myself, my mum, family and the trained staff and volunteers at Headway (Ayrshire), as this will allow them to continue to provide this vital service for patients like my mum, now and in the future.
