2020/21 was and continues to be a very challenging time for
many individuals, the pandemic and the subsequent restrictions designed to prevent its spread, have had a profound impact on the mental health of young
people and adults. Speaking from our own experiences, we had to work from home for 18 months and during that time, in order to cope and manage our own mental health issues, together we recognised positive well-being habits and behaviours. We decided to channel our energies into exercising more as a group.

Fast forward several months, training by going on long walks
together, undulating hills plenty and time to literally get together and
talk, not only have we been able to share with one another our own anxiety’s and be able to offer one another support, we have ultimately become fitter and happier.

This then leads to the decision to challenge ourselves in
doing a hike for Mind and giving something back.

In our industry, this is predominantly a male occupation and
we feel there is a stigma referring to societal disapproval which places
shame on people whom live with mental illnesses or seek help, such as anxiety or depression etc. We wanted to support and get the word out there that it’s good to talk and open up, and so wanted to raise money for Mind to be able to deliver this to people whom are needing this support.

The Challenge

Several members of the team will be attempting to climb the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 18th June 2022.

Just to give you a bit of background, The Yorkshire Three
Peaks route is 24 miles (38km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

We will be starting at Ribblesdale at 6 in the morning them
hiking up to Ingleborough, then over to Whernside past Ribblehead Viaduct and up to the final hill Pen-y-Ghent, then back to Ribblesdale.

Mind is a mental health charity in England and Wales.
Founded in 1946.

Mind offers information and advice to people with mental
health problems.
