World Child Cancer – Cameroon Appeal 2017 · 22 August 2016

In low- and middle-income countries fewer than 1 in 10 children with cancer are diagnosed, treated or given pain relief. World Child Cancer improves cancer care for some of the world’s poorest children by creating international twinning partnerships between medics hospitals and parent support groups

Story

We are teaming up to raise vital funds for the work of World Child Cancer in Cameroon. This UK charity supports diagnosis, treatment and support for children with cancer and their families in developing countries.

Over 300,000 children develop cancer worldwide each year. Most of these children live in developing countries where survival rates can be as low as 10%, compared to 80% in high income countries. Thousands of children are dying unnecessarily when they could be treated or cured

In Cameroon, it is estimated that 1,000 children develop cancer every year. Sadly, the majority of these are never diagnosed, and even fewer are treated. World Child Cancer only began working in Cameroon 4 years ago but is already making a difference - but needs help to do more.

We love a challenge, and so inspired by this important cause, have set ourselves a target to raise £85,000 in 12 months!

Your donations have a big impact in Cameroon:

-£25 buys accurate diagnosis for 10 children

-£50 buys a potentially life-saving chemotherapy treatment

-£500 buys the treatment of a child with Burkitt Lymphoma

Please help us by donating and/or participating in our events - we will keep you posted about these! And you can follow our website page for updates - www.worldchildcancer.org/CameroonAppeal2017

Thank you!
