Story

17/04/2013 - That was one of the best and worst things that I've ever done! I definitely underestimated just how hard it would be, I have so much respect for anyone that has ever run a marathon or anyone preparing to do one!

I have to say a massive thank you to anyone and everyone that has supported and sponsored me, all of the runners and the crowd that spurred me on throughout. You have all kept me going from the moment I started training to the moment I crossed the finish line!

I finally finished in a time of 4 hours 37 minutes, the longest 4 hours and 37 minutes of my life!

I would recommend that everyone does a marathon at some point in their life, it is something that I will never forget. I'll definitely being  doing another next year!

Thanks again to everyone that donated, your money will be used for a brilliant cause. Every penny has been greatly appreciated!

02/04/13 - I've recived some more offline donations. Much love to Tina Beckett, Nicki Woolridge, Bob Henshaw and Kim Wort!

02/04/2013 - Theres now under 2 weeks until race day! Its becoming more of a reality and i'm starting to think about it alot more... Training has been going well up until last week, had a little hiccup which shouldn't have happened resulting in a couple of nights out, some missed days running, and the consumption of a few takeaways! I don't think its affected me massively, all I can do is give it one final push over these last 12 days and hope everything goes to plan!

I got myself a Nike+ running band which has made things easier and i've found its motivated me even more as its breaks down my pace, distance etc. Its definitely shown me where I needed to improve...

I shall be in touch after the race to let you know how I got on. Hoping for a time of under 4 hours but we shall see!

08/03/13 - Been a while since my last update, since then I've stepped up my training massively. I've now completed 2 half marathon, 13 mile stretches, both in under 2 hours which I'm pleased with. Never would have thought that would have happened if you had asked at the end of last year!

With only 36 days to go I'm going to try and get a couple more 13 mile runs under my belt  and I aim to have done a 20 mile run before race day. Its getting a bit daunting the closer it gets!

Thanks again to everyone that's sponsored me and,if you haven't already, there's still time! It's all much appreciated and its all going to a great cause!

01/02/13 - Some more people have decided to donate offline and support me so thanks to Adam Monfared, Ollie Webb and Susan and Sian Winter.

Ive still been consistent in my training bar a few hiccups here and there... ( Everyone needs to go out and enjoy themselves at the weekend sometimes!)  I do feel alot better in myself, alot fitter anyway, and my confidence is growing however Im not sure if this is a good thing or a foolish thing! Next week Im going to see how I get on running a 10 mile stretch, hopefully by then the torrential wind and rain that we've been having will have stopped making it that little bit more bearable!

16/01/13 - I thought id update this from time to time as people sponsor me offline as well just to say thanks and to show them that their sponsorship is also very much appreciated. So thanks to M Ferguson, D Liningten, L Rogers, B Smith and Callum Lindley. Every sponsorship reminds me that little bit more about how important it is for me to finish this race, not only for myself, but also for Arms Around The Child and the people they help and support.

13/01/13 - So far so good! I've stuck to changing what I eat and cut out the booze. I've also been sticking to my gym routine and running regularly. Still yet to run more than 8 miles however the 3 and 5 mile stints are getting easier and im beginning to get used to pacing myself. Lets just hope I can keep this up...

03/01/2013 - Ran for the first time since Christmas and New Year yesterday, possibly the worst 5 miles i've ever run! I think all the food, alcohol and late nights has taken its toll! Now January has arrived getting to the gym and running regularly again begins again. Hopefully by the end of February I'll be in good enough shape to tackle a half marathon. We shall see!

19/12/12 - Having decided to run the 3 mile trip home from work most days, bar one or two rest days, since my last update on here I can honestly say this is going to be a struggle to get me to where I need to be for April! For now I'm  just hoping to get my body used to running longer distances than I would normally on a regular basis, in the New Year i'll then begin to up this distance over time

Starting training in Decmber has struck me as particulaly hard due to the terrible weather and the fact the whole month consists of Christmas nights out and eating the same amount of food in a month that you would normally consume in a year!

09/12/2012  - Training begins tomorrow! If you know me then you'll know just how much of a challenge this is for me. I think most people that i've spoken have told me I won't do it or that I'll fail shortly after the start!

Thank you in advance to everybody who donates, it will all make a difference, its for a brilliant cause and I promise I will finish even if I have to crawl across the line! I shall keep you updated along the way so you can feel my pain as well!
