We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  The reason we are raising funds for CALM is that I, Gary Lambert, have suffered from depression for a number of years and I wanted to provide some sort of payback for all the agencies which have helped me over the years.  You can't really go into your local NHS Walk-In Centre and hand over a bag of cash so I thought that CALM would be able to use any funds raised to help people who were similar to me.  Fortunately in Peter Smout and Steve Deboo I've got two friends who are pretty good at these sort of outdoors events, own bikes and know how to put up with my moaning for a couple of days.  They were also supportive enough to agree to fund raise alongside me for the same charity.

The simple plan for our journey is to start at Pier Head Liverpool early morning Thursday 10 October and stop in Chorley (46 miles) on Day 1; Barnoldswick (+41 miles) on Day 2 and then reach Leeds (+40 miles) on Day 3.

None of your donations will be going to pay for our journey.  We're going to be having a laugh and a couple of drinks on the way so it's only fair that we foot the bill for that part of the adventure.  We are solely raising for CALM.

For those of you who are here and haven't read them yet, if you want to know even more about why CALM is important to me please read my blog on the CALM website.  The first and second installments are below...

Thanks a lot for any help you can provide, but please only give what you can afford to not what you think other people might expect from you.
