Jon's Cancer & Covid Run page

Cancer & Covid Run · 31 December 2020
I haven't run more than 3 miles for over a year and I'm not expecting to have any fun attempting this, so why would I do it?
I have 2 good reasons;
1- In the past 6 weeks, 1 close friend has been diagnosed with lymphoma and is undergoing severe chemo, 1 immediate family member has been diagnosed with incurable secondary cancer and is about to start chemo before Xmas and another extended family member has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Having a cancer diagnosis in normal circumstances must be awful, but it becomes unimaginable when it happens in the middle of a pandemic when you can't see family and are living in fear of catching Covid19.
2- My second reason is a purely selfish one. Being stuck in the house with 3 females is a challenge at the best of times, but Lockdown 2.0, the dark nights, no squash, pub, golf has really tested my sanity. I need this challenge for me as much as anyone else.
The plan is to run every day until the 28th Dec and then run a marathon (26 miles) around Mote Park - around 10-12 laps on New Years Eve. I will be donating £100 for every lap I complete.
It would be great if you could donate, but if not, no problem. The main reason for creating this page is so I can't back out!
