Candice's first ever full marathon - 'She who dares'.

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
5 years ago I lost my Dad to an incurable lung disease called Idiopathic pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
IPF is a terminal and progressive condition which scars the lungs and makes it difficult and then impossible to breathe. There is currently no cure for IPF and little is known about what causes it.
I’m running the London marathon this April as part of #teambreathe to raise awareness for Ashtma and Lung UK, in loving memory of my Dad Paul, and to raise money for those who find breathing a struggle on a daily basis.
Until I lost my Dad to this condition I never really considered how lucky I am to have healthy lungs and how privileged and grateful I feel with every breath I take. Running isn’t something that comes naturally to me and I have no idea if I can go the distance, but whilst I have healthy lungs, I’m excited to give it a go.
Watching my Dad suffer and take his final breath is something I will never truly get over but I want his legacy to live on in me and I want to live a life I cherish in his memory.
I’d be really grateful for any donations to support #teambreathe and to spur me on in my first ever marathon in memory of my wonderful, kind and compassionate Dad.
To Dad, I miss you and I hope I make you proud.
