Campaign by Rhino Ark (RCN 1047083)
The Rhino Charge is an offroad 4x4 event where the cars and drivers work with their team to get their car around the course in the shortest possible distance. The funds raised go towards the protection of Kenya's water tower ecosystems.

Story

As a team we have been dedicated participants of the Rhino charge and supporters of the Rhino Ark since 2006. Although both the team and car have changed over this time, the team spirit and principles remain the same. As a previous team leader once said;

Competing and contending is important; and Team no 1 has always aimed for a top result, even if this has come at times at the expense of finishing...Raising money is important; it is after all the purpose of the event. We’ve tried to raise as much as we can....This ethos means we are competitive but sporting, and remain with a view on the bigger overall objective of the charge itself.

During the last 15 years of charging, the team has managed to raise over a quarter of a million dollars (US $280,000) for the cause. This year we hope to add another at least another $30,000 to our total. And this is where you generosity and kindness comes in. Lets just be clear.....All the money raised goes directly to RHINO ARK!!!  Not to painting or pimping the car, not to the team or their uniform and certainly not to the post event beer fund! In 2018 the event raised a magnificent $1.8 million US.

Although this is only a one day event, it takes months of planning, training and preparation. It is a test of team work, enthusiasm and sheer determination.  The team members need the fitness and stamina to run up and down hills foraging for the best and ultimately the shortest route. We will be scrambling through the dense African bush for the best part of 12 hours starting our day off at about 0500 and only ending the charge at 1730, sharing the venue with only 64 other cars and of course the Kenyan wildlife- who knows what we will see, hopefully not bump into!!!!

As always, the location is kept top secret until much closer to the event date, but we do know that wherever it is in Kenya, it will be glorious and worth the trek to get there. Thank you for your support and taking the time to read this!
