Rhino Charge 2023
Campaign by Rhino Ark (RCN 1047083)
The Rhino Charge is an offroad 4x4 event where the cars and drivers work with their team to get their car around the course in the shortest possible distance. The funds raised go towards the protection of Kenya's water tower ecosystems.

Story

Dear Friends and Supporters,

In 2023 Team Bundu Fundi will be back to compete in our 27th consecutive Rhino Charge! We will be entering as double defending champions, having amazingly won both the 2021 and 2022 events, backing up previous victories in 2010 and 2013. Historically no team has ever defended the title for a third year in succession, probably for good reason. We would love to be the first team to achieve this but we know it is a very tall order. It is more competitive than ever and one needs some luck on one’s side too. We will as usual try our very best whilst raising as much money as we can for this noble cause. It’s always a great adventure regardless of the final result.

The Rhino Charge supports the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust which is working to address the threats to mountain forest ecosystems and wildlife in Kenya. Not only does the trust aim to protect wildlife and its environment, but its efforts support communities living adjacent to these critical areas.

All teams competing in the event have to pledge to raise a certain amount for Rhino Ark as a condition of entry. We have pledged 1.5M KSH for the 2023 event but we very much hope to exceed 2M if we can.

It remains a difficult time to be raising funds and we appreciate that many of our regular sponsors will have struggled with uncertainty and rampant inflation pressures in the last 12 months. It is clear however that the ongoing conservation work of the likes of Rhino Ark is more vital than ever and they need as much support as they can get. A kilometre of electrified fence costs 2.5M KSH to build and 80,000 KSH to maintain annually so with hundreds of km of fence already built and many more planned/in process, the budget required for this is very significant.

Please help us in supporting the goals of Rhino Ark, which are so important to Kenya, its people, and wildlife. Kenya’s highland forest water towers are irreplaceable natural assets and are globally significant. We remain extremely passionate about their preservation so please give what you can to help this worthy cause.

Thank you for your support!
