Callum and Cara Shave Their Heads in Support of Mental Health

Cara Vessey is raising money for Hull & East Yorkshire Mind

Shaving Our Heads · 8 May 2021

We provide mental health support and advice to improve the lives of local people in North East Lincolnshire

Story

Callum and I are shaving our heads in honour of the millions of people that suffer from poor mental wellbeing everyday, especially in a pandemic. We believe that mental illnesses need to be talked about in order to aid those that need help. Stigmatisation around mental health needs to be tackled.

Callum: "Raising funds for this charity means a lot to me due to the battle with mental health that I am currently facing. Like many others, I struggle to get out of bed and completing the smallest of tasks feels impossible. Thankfully, I've had friends and family to help me through this but I know many people aren't as lucky and this is why I want to raise funds for a local charity in North East Lincolnshire to aid with running support hotlines and many other beneficial resources for mental illnesses."

Cara: "Mental illness is one of the biggest pandemics in the world and is effecting billions of people day to day. In a time like this when socialising is restricted, peoples support systems are constricted. I want to raise money for a charity that is try to help with giving support remotely and giving people support in their darkest of times. No one should ever feel alone. All throughout this pandemic I have struggled with my mental wellbeing and I know I'm not the only one."
