Jim and I were lucky enough to be able to discuss this page before he passed away, it is something we both felt the need to do . Unfortunately hospiscare is a charity you don't really think of until you need it .

And my goodness when you need it you need it , we were both apprehensive about a few days there in May for pain control , but within an hour of being there we were so relaxed .words can't really explain the staff and volunteers there even the building it self , all thought out perfectly .

Of course they had Jim Sussed immediately ! , in he goes cracking funnies ,being cheeky ,going for midnight jaunts around the grounds without telling anyone , arriving back to his room faced with four nurses asking if he'd like a cup of tea for his next trek ! 5 days later my Jim emerged a man physically and mentally ready for a battle he'd been unaware he'd been fighting for a while , but now equip on every level to do it as Jim did everything , with smiles ,laughter , awfully inappropriate jokes and the fighting spirit that kept him true to himself and utterly self- less until the end.

Fabulous people who's training is either extensive or I think more likely ,just fantastic people with the strength to want to help terminally ill people and their families through the hardest journey of all that any family can face .

" a piece of paradise hidden within the grounds of a massive hospital who knew! " as Jim said .

Six weeks later we were back under different circumstances ,but none the less the laughter was the same,as was the banter with Jim , and the tremendous care and support for Jim ,myself and my girls was even more overwhelming.

A heart wrenching journey we all knew we had to make, made more tolerable by such a fabulous bunch of funny caring individuals who's involvement in our journey will never be forgotten .
