Caras Climb

Cara, Zoe, Marie and Steph Climb Ben Nevis · 14 May 2022
At the beginning of last year, I was diagnosed with Gestational Trophoblastic Disease following a Molar pregnancy. Molar pregnancies affect approximately 1 in 1000 women. 10% of those women will then go on to be diagnosed with Gestational Trophoblastic Disease. It is a very rare form of a cancer and luckily a highly treatable one.
In May 2021 I was admitted to the care of Charing Cross Hospital (the specialist unit for GTD) where I started a course of chemotherapy. This continued every fortnight until the end of October 2021. I am eternally grateful for the dedication of the staff at the Trophoblastic Disease unit, all of whom work tirelessly to treat and support patients as they navigate pregnancy loss and the realities of cancer and chemotherapy.
This May, my wonderful girls Marie, Steph and Zoe will be accompanying me to the summit of the highest mountain in the UK, to raise money and awareness for The CTRT, which is a charity close to our hearts. CTRT enable consultants to turn research ideas and studies in to life-saving treatments. Please help us to hit our target - any donations would be hugely appreciated!
