Story
What originally started as a way for the football team to keep fit during lock down, with a monthly target of walking or running 1,000km in May, graduated into something else. With the Euros being postponed for a year, what better way to keep busy with lock down, and a lack of football than to try a 3 stage challenge for June/July. To travel the distance required to attend all of Wales' group games (obviously, they wouldn't make it out of their group, so we don't need to worry about knockout game distances).
Stage 1 - Cardiff to Baku (4,192km)
Stage 2 - Baku to Rome (3,116km)
Stage 3 - Rome to Home (1,598km)
3 Stages Combined: 8,906km
This is a Cardiff Cosmos squad wide challenge, catering for all disciplines preferred, be it walking, cycling or running. The only caveat on walking being, we have to actively go outside to do this, and not just wander about in the house!
We've decided to raise money for MIND, who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. MIND was the chosen charity for our friend and teammate, Nick Beckley, who tragically passed away after completing the Cardiff Half Marathon last year. #ForNickBeckley #CardiffCosmos
