Story
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK supports people with pancreatic cancer, campaigning, and funding vital research.
For the last 2 and a half years my mother has fought a battle with this disease. She’s faced every bump in the road with optimism, every hospital visit with a joke, and every day with sheer determination to fight this as hard as she possibly can.
I owe it to her and to my dad who's been by her side the entire time, to do what I can in some small way. The aim is to raise the profile of this aggressive cancer and do something that will contribute towards research into its treatment and cure.
Unfortunately my marathon days are now over and shaving my head wouldn't actually make much difference given I'm one haircut away from a crewcut as it is! So through the Careering into Motherhood community, we are running twice-weekly career coaching sessions to support the work of Pancreatic Cancer U.K.
Each participating coach will make a donation of at least £100, and each person who joins us for the coaching sessions will donate £1. We are a community of over 7,000 women who have benefitted over the last 2 years from free advice and time given to help each other - I think we can now put that to great effect and all make a difference to this deserving cause.
Please give generously. I know times are tough but if you've had any support from our group I'd urge you to give a pound.
