Woking & Sam Beare Hospice is a charity that delivers specialist palliative care to adult patients of all ages who have life-limiting and terminal illnesses in the North West Surrey region, providing free of charge holistic care and support services both in our hospice and in homes.

Story

Celebrating 25 years Woking & Sam Beare Hospice delivers high quality personal specialist care and support 24x7 x 365 days of the year to anyone with a life-limiting illness, at the time they need it and in the place of their choice.

The hospice offers patients holistic care; managing their medical needs as well as practical, emotional, social, and spiritual support. This care extends to families and carers with advice so that they remain well and best able to support their loved one who is affected by illness.

Care is delivered in the community, in patient homes and nursing homes, and through a 20 bed in-patient ward serving 6 Surrey boroughs.

The charity provides a unique and highly personalised range of health  services to both patients and their families including:

  • Inpatient Unit - designed to cater for patients’ physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs
  • Hospice at Home -
  • Community Care
  • pre- and post-bereavement counselling  for children and adults
  • Wellbeing centre - a vibrant place where patients and carers can
attend day sessions to access treatments (eg physio), support services and take part in social activities.

The hospice team are a very special multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, working closely with a highly experienced support team.

Despite extremely challenging circumstances caused by the pandemic over 1,500 individual patients were cared for during 2020/21 in the in-patient unit and at
