The Caring As One Challenge is to cycle from our offices in Staines, via ICAN's specialist Meath School in Ottershaw, through central London, onto Folkestone for 'Le Shuttle' crossing, across France, through Switzerland, finishing in Liechtenstein 9 days later, a total "ride" of approximately 1200km (800m).
Anne, Philippe and Nick are intending to cycle the whole distance with many other friends and colleagues joining for individual stages along the way!
2011 is the National Year of Communication and ICAN are helping to raise awareness of the challenges faced by children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties. With wider awareness will come a greater need for ICAN’s resources and the charity has to raise this year an extra £1 million (in addition to its usual fundraising efforts) to ensure it will be ready and able to assist those who seek its help.
ICAN's mission is to ensure that no child who struggles to communicate is left out or left behind. Their vision is a world where all who struggle to communicate receive the help they need to have a happy childhood, to make progress at school and to thrive as adults.
Our aim is to raise as much as we can to support ICAN, so that they, in turn, can help provide children and their families with the vital assistance they need.
