On the 27th of October, I was admitted to Southampton General Hospital for a potential stroke. I spent 8 days as an inpatient under the care of Wessex Neurological team who completed transfusions, lumbar punctures, CT/MRI scans and countless blood tests. After IV medication I was allowed home to continue treatment with countless outpatient appointments, physio, tests and scans to complete.
In 2017, Wessex Neurological team also saved my Grandads life after he suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury following a fall. Whilst I dedicated my dissertation to their research, I think my stay requires more!
Whilst I was fortunate enough to not be suffering from a stroke, the team have been fantastic, working hard to get a diagnosis for my situation. 8 days visiting in hospital and running the house alone, is not enough for Joe and therefore he is coming on this crazy 10k run with me. Training starts after Christmas, obviously!
We know and appreciate times are hard for everyone at the moment therefore we have set what we hope is an achievable goal. However if you cannot donate but are willing to cheer and laugh at our sweaty faces on the day we would really appreciate it.
Please forgive us for the multiple shares in this post in the upcoming months!
