The Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash 2019 · 27 October 2019 ·
Did you know, over 1 million older people in the UK are chronically lonely and at this very moment there are over 37,000 older people living in Leeds feeling socially isolated or lonely. Your donations will help Age UK be there for older people who have no one to turn to for advice, support or a listening ear. Thank you for your support.
I have decided to enter the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k to give myself a goal and to make my children proud.
I started jogging last summer, because I had become a stressed out mum....who sadly like so many others was struggling with balancing a busy lifestyle. Thanks to the Couchto5k app, I worked up to 5k but things had to go on hold due to an operation and 3 months of no jogging. I missed my morning runs and my stress levels gradually crept up again.
I started jogging again in April this year. I am aiming to complete the Abbey Dash 10k with the support of my wonderful husband Carlos running beside me and egging me on every step of the way.
Old age is a privilege sadly denied to many. I am running to remember people who have not been given that privilege, and to raise funds for our older generation who deserve to live their lives with dignity, respect, love and laughter.
