Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
From Monday 1st of January I will be attempting to Run Every Day, or at least carry out some form of physical activity, to raise money and awareness for MIND, the mental health charity.
Within the UK Mental health affects a staggering number of people, around 1 in 4, which means that most of us will at some point in our
lives will either experience adverse mental health issues ourselves or know somebody else or have to care for somebody else who has.
Mental health takes many forms from depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, personality disorder, PTSD, phobias and post natal depression to name but a few.
The stigma attached to mental health is a huge factor in how
people feel they can move forwards to get the help and support they need to understand and overcome their circumstances and move forwards to recovery.
By raising awareness, by having THAT conversation, by talking, by listening, by noticing when people are acting differently, by understanding and being there we can challenge this stigma and
raise awareness to help our friends and our loved ones realise they are not alone and their mental health does not define who they are.
By donating money to MIND you are enabling this amazing charity to continue campaigning for mental health rights, supporting service users and their families, improving access to local services and providing local centres where people can go to receive specialised support and care based on their individual needs.
While this event only runs for January I will be taking part in several other events with the aim of running500 miles over the course of the year.
