I am running/walking/limping the London Marathon for National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society because for me, the pain will be temporary.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Lets be honest - I'm not sporty & I could not be described as athletic.  I do however like a challenge, so please read on......

My beloved Uncle Stephen has been in agonising, debilitating pain with Ankylosing Spondilitis for as long as I can remember.  Sitting still is painful, let alone anything else.  He has also suffered a heart attack, a stroke & beaten cancer - but hey there's only one charity to choose !   He does however maintain a fantastic sense of humour and I can honestly say I never hear him complain.

You probably won't have heard of this charity which is exactly why I have chosen them.  Small charities like NASS provide great funding for essential research into this horrid condition & are very proactive in helping sufferers find ways to get on with their lives.

If my training so far is an indicator then I know that my body will feel broken by the end of the marathon.  My legs & back are aching most of the time right now & sore calves are just the norm.  However two things will be on my mind on 28th April 1) This pain is my choice. 2)It will be temporary.

Your donations will mean the world to me & my Uncle, and will definitely help me through the 26.2 miles in April.  They will also help me through my training which is, to be honest, soul destroying at times!!   THANK YOU xxxx

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
