The Children’s Critical Care Appeal is supporting sick children & their families by providing specialist equipment above and beyond the NHS budget and transforming the parent’s rooms.

Story

A close friend of our family, 2 year old Frankè, has been diagnosed with a rare chromosome syndrome called ‘3p25 deletion’. It is so unusual that only 50 cases have ever been diagnosed around the world. This genetic condition has left Frankè with a range of disabilities including profound deafness, epilepsy, a heart condition and global developmental delay.

During his first 6 months, Frankè would stop breathing on a daily basis and had 3 visits to the intensive care unit. In 2 years, brave Frankè has endured multiple heart operations, a bone-anchored hearing aid drilled into his skull and more. He has been treated at Great Ormond Street, Southampton and Oxford hospitals but with the newly developed Children’s Critical Care Unit at Wexham Park he can now receive the care that he needs closer to home.

To have Wexham’s Children’s Critical Care Unit close by is not only a benefit to Frankè but to his amazing family too. They have spent much of their time travelling to and from various hospitals around the country. Now they can get much needed support and care at their local hospital.

Frankè is a true hero and a large part of all of our hearts.
Lisa and I are going to complete the Black Park 10K run (hopefully!). We know that it’s not a marathon or anything but as neither of us are runners trust me to us it will feel like one!

Please help us to raise funds for Frimley Heath Children’s Critical Care Appeal, to bring the latest state-of-the-art technical equipment and monitoring systems urgently needed for Wexham’s Children’s Critical Care Unit and make a difference to Frankè and other children's lives at Wexham Park Hospital.
