Story
This is supremely late notice I am afraid. Julie and I have been training for the Royal Parks Half Marathon for a little while now. Unfortunately, my training hit a bit of a blip as many of you know, I lost my lovely Dad in early September. So I really wasn't sure whether I'd be able to do it. With lots of cheering from Julie, we've put some more miles in and although not as prepared as I'd like, we are going to give it a go! So a bit of context below, but please if you have some cash to spare, we'd really appreciate the support for ActionAid who provide some incredible support for women and girls around the world. Something that will always feel important to us both.
A bit of background...Julie and I met as mums in Reception, bonded over school runs, playground politics and a shared love of wine. Fast forward a few years and, in a plot twist neither of us saw coming, we’ve decided that October should be spent running the Royal Parks Half Marathon. Together. In our 40s and 50s. For fun. Apparently.
We’re running to raise money for ActionAid, supporting women and girls around the world — which feels like a pretty good reason to swap the wine glass for a water bottle (temporarily, at least). It’s a serious step change from our usual social activities, and there will almost certainly be some debate about whether running 13.1 miles was ever a sensible idea. But we’re doing it together, for a brilliant cause, and hoping that friendship, questionable training plans and sheer stubbornness will get us over the finish line. 🍷➡️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Please do dig deep, your support will absolutely motivate us to cross that finish line on the day.
