After being diagnosed with psoriasis a few years ago and psoriatic arthritis last year my attention was drawn to this life changing and debilitating autoimmune illness. Prior to this I had no knowledge of the illness and just thought psoriasis was a skin condition that a few people got. I had no idea how it can impact so many people's lives and the effect it can have on mental health too. I want to raise awareness of this condition and raise money towards future research to help combat this damaging illness, which I feel is little understood by many that are not directly affected by it.

Since my diagnosis I have become a lot more conscious of the importance of looking after your health and so I have decided to try to lose weight. I currently have a BMI over 31 and this is obviously not good! I will be joining Slimming World and undertaking a minimum of 12 weeks diet and exercise programme to aim to lose 1lb per week on average, so the goal is 12lb in 12 weeks, starting from the first weigh - in when I join. I will keep the progress updated on the just giving page and my personal well - being website.
