Carol's Wimbledon Village Stables Sponsored Ride 2018

Wimbledon Village Stables Sponsored Ride 2018 · 21 October 2018
Caroline and I organised our first Sponsored Ride in 1975 when we were still in Pony Club. We we thrilled to raise £550 for Cancer Research. Since then the ride has gone from strength to strength and hundreds of thousands of pounds has been raised for many different charities. The Ride used to be a huge event and in 1988 250 horses took part and we raised £25,000 for the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. When Foot and Mouth struck in 2007 we had to change our format and keep the Ride exclusively for WVS horses. It isn't just a ride in the Park - we jazz it up a bit by all taking part in Fancy Dress and it is quite a sight when we all ride out together!
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
