As I'm turning 40 on the 18th April, I want friends and family to think about how lucky we are to live happy and somewhat normal lives. Some families don't get that option, as coping with an autistic child can put a strain on family life and personal life. My godson Joe just turned 17 (and that does make me feel old), he was diagnosed with autism and although he may act like any other sullen teenager he does struggle. His mother Cheryl is doing a fantastic job and although she suffers with medical issues herself, Joe and his little brother Elliot are her world. I just want to make it easier for families like hers have a place or person they can contact, talk about autism and life in general.
