Sponsored Skydive · 22 April 2017 ·

We are a self-funding branch of the RSPCA responsible for raising money locally to support our animal welfare work. Our main aim is to take in unwanted, abandoned and neglected animals and find them loving, permanent homes. We rely heavily on public donations and support for our work to continue.

Story

I am a dog lover and a volunteer at the RSPCA in Chesterfield.  It was at the RSPCA Christmas party when I signed up to do the sponsored skydive.  I'd had a glass of wine and was feeling good and thought a skydive was a great way to raise funds to rebuild the animal centre which is in a terrible state.  It was only next day when reality set in and I thought "what have I have I done?"   I am absolutely petrified of jumping out of that aeroplane at 15,000 feet but the animal centre desperately needs rebuilding and so many people have said they will sponsor me so there's no backing out now. I will be 70 years old this year so it's time to do something daring.  I'll do the Skydive!
