My friend, Jane, who has two school aged children, has recently been treated for breast cancer. She lost her own mother at an early age to the disease so obviously to her this was devastating news and she anticipated suffering the same fate.Despite her fears, the developments in medical science since her mother’s tragic death mean she now seems be is out of the woods. 

Throughout her treatment she was inspirational, refusing to give in or slow down and her experience has shown me first hand that this awful disease can be beaten.

I will also be remembering loved ones who are no longer here.
