Story
I have been working at St Lukes Hospice for 22 years, first on the Inpatient unit and then as Lymphoedema Specialist Practitioner with CCICP. The Lymphoedema service is a fabulous example of collaborative working between the Trust and St Lukes and I am so proud to play my part, serving the people of Central & South Cheshire. I am doing the Saharan trek because this year I have been supported by the Family Suport Unit and it's my way of saying thank you.
If you feel like me that 'Bucket list experiences' shouldn't be paid for by fundraising you'll be pleased to know, I'm paying my own expenses and any money I raise will go straight to St Luke's to continue their vital work. Yes that's right I'm paying for the privilege of walking 50km across the dessert in scorching heat without any conveniences (No showers or loos!) Please consider sponsoring me to keep me going through my training and help me to support the fantastic care at St Lukes Hospice. I know times are tough but every little helps.
More about the Trek
We are very excited to be offering the Trek Sahara for the third time! Whilst an amazing experience for our supporters, don't underestimate the challenge for those you are sponsoring! They'll be trekking in scorching heat, with no running water, so no showers or toilets for 3 days! The challenges for each individual taking on this challenge are very different but all have the same aim. To raise funds for our wonderful Hospice.
About St Luke's
St Luke’s offers a wide range of services to support people living with life limiting illnesses in mid and south Cheshire. Our focus is on caring, so whether you come to us for symptom control, end of life care or complementary therapies, you will be coming to a positive environment, with professionals who support your individual needs. St Luke’s is a charity mainly funded by the community we serve, all our services are provided for free. We receive limited support from the government which means that the vast majority of our running costs need to be raised through donations and fundraising. In fact, 84% of our care is funded by donations, fundraising, our Lottery and charity shops.
