Josh and I are raising money to help the Haemochromatosis Society spread awareness of this condition and support sufferers. Kev was diagnosed 13 years ago and if he hadn't got that diagnosis and treatment the damage to his body would have been so much worse and he may not even have survived. This is a really serious condition and so many people are suffering because many GPs are unaware of it or don't know what to look for. One in 200 of Celtic descent have the most common genetic mutation that can lead to iron overload and estimates suggest there may be 200,000 with the mutation in the uk. Less than 10,000 are diagnosed. People are suffering initial symptoms of depression, joint pain, lethergy. Others are dying of liver disease, heart failure and diabetes while the true cause remains undiagnosed. Spreading the word can save lives.
