Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Starting on 27th August 2021 I will be doing the 4x4x48 Challenge this involves running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours. Thats 4 miles, 12 times. ... So 48 miles in total (or 77 kilometers). In other words, we're well into ultramarathon territory.

I am involved with Ashby Hastings Cricket Club which provides facilities and opportunity for all ages, abilities and encourages active sport within our community and provides a family friendly environment for the people of Ashby de-la Zouch to enjoy.

Something that is close to my heart is the awareness of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). Ashby Hastings Cricket Club is working with the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust. The JHMT was set up to break the 'silence' on SADS, create a new generation of young life savers and inspire young people after the tragic loss of Joe Humphries who died while out jogging with his friend in October 2012.

The aim of the JHMT is to facilitate increased awareness and understanding and reduce the impact and incidence of sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) in young people by
maximising the chances of survival of those who suffer a heart arrhythmia by the teaching of both CPR skills and Defibrillator Awareness. The JHMT focus is primarily on those most likely to be in close proximity when such an incident occurs and thus targets those who engage in and/or support young people in the whole range of active sports and leisure pursuits and increase the number of AEDs.

The JHMT have helped Ashby Hastings Cricket Club previously with the supply of an AED and training.

All monies raised will be split between the JHMT and AHCC that are currently looking to raise funds to develop their facilities.
