One of my silver linings, amongst the challenges of 2020, was taking up running and achieving 5k for the first time in my life.  So I thought it would be good to set myself another challenge.  I'm going to run10k in glorious Kew Gardens on Saturday 12 September, while also raising some money for Save the Children's work in the UK - particularly helping children from families most adversely affected by the consequences of lockdown.

The photo is of Mary Ellen, 5, who lives in Cardiff.  When her family's fridge freezer broke down they could not afford to replace it.  As they could no longer store many foods,  their living costs also went up.  Crucially Mary Ellen's mum was no longer able to store important medicines for her and her sister.  Thanks to money raised by GSK employees in the UK, children like Mary Ellen are supported by Save the Children.  Mary Ellen's family were awarded a fridge-freezer, as well as an Early Learning Pack - which has meant Mary Ellen could progress with her love of reading.
