In May 2021, the Health and Social Care team at Leeds City College , Quarry Hill campus lost our very dear friend, the kind and amazing Anne Stead.

Anne has worked with us for a number of years, teaching and inspiring Level 3 students to make a difference in their future careers within the health and social care sector.

She will always be remembered for her kindness,  warmth professionalism and her humour.  She was creative and had a strong desire for fairness.

Anne was our very dear friend and she is sorely missed. Diagnosed with MND just weeks before she passed. MND is a cruel and life shattering disease. Any funds raised will help contribute to research to stop the illness and to support families facing the consequences of this hideous disease.

Please look at Anne’s  tribute page.

In February 2022, at college we raised funds through a Bake Off at college.  Our talented health and social care team  are going to bake their heart out and share their cakes, donations were gratefully received .

The Great North Run was completed in September 2022. Thank you so much for your amazing support it makes such a difference.

Thank you to the students and staff I of Level 3 Health and Social Care team who raised a fabulous amount from their fundraising activities in February 2023.  Great work!

In April 2023  I will be attempting  to complete the London Marathon.  Please continue to support this amazing cause, remembering Anne. Update - sadly to health issues I am hoping to be able to complete this in 2024 now.

In June 2023 we are going to have a quiz night in Anne’s memory.

Thank you so much to my friend and neighbour Karen for nominating MNDA . A huge thank you for the amazing contribution of £143.43 from the proceeds of a cake sale at Horsforth Facebook Live Horsforth Rock Choir. Absolutely incredible- thank you so much!

Sept 2023 - Just packing my bag to get ready to head up to very sunny Newcastle for this year’s Great North Run for Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of Anne. It will be very hot and likely to be very slow but I will get round with the amazing support of all those lovely spectators, fellow runners, the MNDA team and my friends and family. The picture of Anne I carry on my back will help me focus on why I’m doing this challenge. It also leads to lots of lovely conversations about Anne.

My final challenge for MNDA will be the London Marathon - 21st April 2024.  Delayed from last year due to illness last year.

I have never attempted a marathon before (and after this I won’t be again!) and tbh I am finding the training really tough. I’ve been working hard to try and overcome various injuries both old and new. Running in snow, ice, gale force winds and torrential rain have been challenging (to say the least)…. But every step is in memory of Anne, my very dear friend, who I miss so much.

If you can and I know times are tough, please sponsor me to help remember Anne, to support me in my final MNDA challenge, and to help support those (and their families and friends) who are living with (or lived with) this most horrific of diseases.

Thank you so very much

Always in our thoughts Anne  🧡
