Story
I'm proud to say that my employer, Kaplan International, is supporting the No Girl Left Behind project in Zimbabwe - which is working to get more than 60,000 out-of-school adolescent girls back into the classroom.
The work that Plan and its partners on the ground in Zimbabwe are doing is amazing. They've had to be extremely resourceful in adapting to the challenges of COVID (as have we all) and have employed creative, practical ways to ensure that girls continue to learn during this challenging time.
Aside from the priinciple of equality, which kind of goes without saying... here are just few practical reasons why getting and keeping girls in school is so important:
- Educated girls are more likely to use contraception, marry later, have fewer children, and be better informed on the nutritional needs of their own children.
- When a girl stays in school, she increases her income earning potential and her future is immediately brighter.
- Girls who complete their education have the opportunity to learn the skills that enable them to take charge – not only in their own homes, careers and lives – but also in their community and their country and everyone benefits.
I'm fundraising for this fantastic cause and I would be grateful for any support you can give.
