Caroline's Stirling – Memory Walk page

Stirling – Memory Walk · 21 September 2014 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My husband suffers from a rare form of dementia and has been in a Care Home for the past four years. Nobody ever thinks it will happen to them but dementia in all its forms is a devastating disease not just for the person themselves but also for their carer. There are more people suffering from dementia than from cancer, heart or stroke combined. I have recently become the Chairperson of the local Stirling/Clackmannanshire Branch and have helped to organise this Memory Walk on what will be World Alzheimer Day. It will be taking place on the 21st September and we will walk round the loch in the grounds of Stirling University. By volunteering in the local dementia ward I see first hand the devastating effect this illness has on people and it is predicted to double in the next twenty years so the more support we can provide now will increase the support that can be given by Alzheimer Scotland. All donations will be spent in the local area to improve the lives of sufferers and their carers.
