Story
Our lovely dad was sadly diagnosed with Dementia a few years ago, and as a family we have recently had to make the immensely difficult decision that now is the right time for him to go into care. This decision has not come easy at all for any of us, but in particular for our mum who has been his carer all this time up until now... Sadly though his dementia has vastly deteriorated in the last few months and is just too much for our mum to deal with 24 /7 .....This has been a very difficult decision for the whole family but we know it is the right one, so that he can get the professional care that is required from the lovely Dementia Care home close to home.
As you can imagine we are all going through some very mixed emotions, so we wanted to focus on doing something positive, challenge ourselves and hopefully raise some money for a charity that does so much for those with this cruel disease and their families.
So we have challenged ourselves to each do a million steps in 3 months: Starting on Oct 1st and finishing at the end of the year, we aim to walk / run (99% walking to be fair!!!) a million steps. We don’t live close to each other, so we will mostly be doing our million steps alone, but we will be together all the way in spirit.
Whilst we appreciate this is maybe not the hardest of challenges for some, its certainly a challenge for us, but we also wanted to do something for a charity that has become close to our hearts. If anyone would like to donate anything, no matter how big or small to help us keep going it would be very much appreciated
Thanks
Nick and Caroline
