In the summer of 1948 my mother cycled to Paris. She never explained what possessed her to cycle in a war ravaged Europe with no plan, no back up and a trailer made out of a pram. This is the only picture we have of her on this trip taken on the ferry over. Sadly we will never know as she is now very ill with Alzheimer's Disease.
In homage to this journey myself and 3 of her grandsons are going to endeavour to do the same trip 70 years on. Save for the light-weight aluminium/carbon fibre bikes, full medical support and Eurostar home there will be little difference between the two trips. Oh and the padded lycra shorts. Those as well.
I am now writing to you to ask whether you will sponsor myself and my sons on our 70 year on commemorative journey to raise funds to support research into stopping this disease. All the money goes straight to the charity!!!!!
