The Great North Run is the biggest half marathon in the world with over 57,000 runners taking part. The course takes in the iconic Tyne Bridge and finishes in the coastal town of South Shields.

Story

Like so many other families, ours has had significant first-hand experience of how Alzheimer’s disease can drastically change the people we love. While we have sadly already lost one relative to this awful illness, we are currently enjoying as much time as possible with another sufferer and I want to do anything I can to improve her quality of life as well as bring our society one step closer to a cure.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
