run mexico challenge 2008 · 9 May 2008

The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. If you or a loved one need practical or emotional support, call our Connect Helpline on 0808 802 6262, Mon to Fri between 9am and 4pm.

Story

We've done it!!!!!!!!!!!  This was most certainly a challenge and a half not least because of the heat and injury, but also the roads we were running on - you know you are losing the plot when you get excited by a couple of bends in the road (a bend sign on day three was a highlight).  Contrary to my earlier fears, you will be pleased to hear that I didn't get eaten by a crocodile after the run on day three and I avoided coming into contact with any snakes (Lucy didn't point out the dead one on the road on day one, in view of my fear).  However, we both completed the challenge, as did the rest of the runners and have raised a considerable sum for MND, so many thanks to all of you.

We would still love to reach our target, so if anybody would still like to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.

Motor Neurone Disease has no treatment and no known cure, and is now affecting a family member.  We think that is a good enough reason to take on this challenge! Running 25k (15miles) for four consecutive days, is nothing compared to being diagnose with this illness

ALL MONIES RAISED ARE GOING DIRECTLY TO RESEARCH

Many thanks for your support - and continue to watch this space
