We support people with Tourettes Syndrome to live their lives to the full

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been very lucky in securing a place to run for Tourettes Action in the 2018 London Marathon, and raise money for the leading support and research charity for people with Tourette Syndrome and their families.

My son Jack was diagnosed with Tourettes at the age of 7, but I knew he had it years before the official diagnosis. He is now 12 years old and copes with it brilliantly. Some days I just want to deal with the condition for him - when I watch the pain of some of his tics, see how it annoys him, or stops him from getting his words out, or how others stare at him, but all I can do is be there for him as his mum.

Hopefully I will show him that strength comes in many forms, and at the same time raise awareness of a condition which has touched our lives and needs so much more recognition and awareness than it currently holds in society today. Hopefully in the future, research and awareness will develop to a level where it becomes a condition that many people understand and accept without question or misconception.

Thank you for reading our story, and hopefully you will support me in running such a gruelling distance for a charity close to my heart.
