So we did it! Thank you everyone for sponsoring me and helping to raise over £1000 for JBT. Rising at 7am on Sunday morning was challenging enough. I was sensible though, instead of a breakfast of scampi and chips (which I'd learnt not to do during my intense training regime), I had a bowl of porridge oats, which I was thankful for when crossing the finish line (won't go into too much detail about that, but I have done a re-enactment if you take a look at my photos-uh-huh).. Shortly after take off Kate and Sarah disappeared off into the horizon leaving Danielle and I to use scooby doo as a marker, but then that got confusing as there turned out to be several scooby doos. Toilet breaks and scooby doo markers taken into account, I crossed the finish line in a less than glorious manor in 1 hr 7, sorry Azza :(. But hey at one point I was running so fast that I failed to see my (adoring?) audience Paul, Katie, Laura and Mark. So getting up at 7am and running 10k by 11am meant there was a lot of the day left to spend in Green Park with some crisps and cava. Oh well, at least I don't look like a big slimey fish with snot coming out of my mouth anymore, or not quite...
Word up, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In my quest to stop saying no to everything, I have found myself signed up to run 10k around Londres on 10th of July. I have never had a great deal of respect for those runners out there and always thought it would be nae bother to run a marathon if I felt the need. How wrong I was. I tried running for the first time ever the other day (or since the days of having to run round Wetlands-school cross country, great days), and managed 5 laps of Paddington Rec (that's the track, not the park) before having to go home, I was later told that was about 1 mile. As you can see from my picture I have a lot of work to do before 10th July because I am a big slimy fish with snot coming out of my mouth. Apologies to all those runners who I have shown such disregard to because I thought you were only there to frighten pigeons and make then flap at me. Opinion now officially changed-now please sponsor me. It is a challenge as I am not going to walk.
I wanted to do it for a smallish charity where the small amount I will raise might make a bit of difference so I have opted for the James Baldwin trust which is supported by my fellow runnee Danielle.
The James Baldwin Trust helps young adults being treated for T-Cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It contributes towards, or meets the cost of, accommodation and travel for the patient and close family and friends when treatment is given at a hospital which is a significant distance from their home.
