Story
Together, through Embody Yoga*, we are raising funds for Lumenus Foundation. As you may be aware, autism has been a long journey for us since Matthew was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in 2002 and Riley had the same diagnosis less than two years later. We feel extremely blessed that the boys are healthy. They are now young adults and I am trying to envision a future for them as full participants in the community. Every parent has hopes and dreams and my hope is they are able to thrive independently in the future when I am gone.
Organizations like Lumenus bridge the gap between family and community. While I hope to be able to continue to support them for a long time, I also hope that Lumenus will thrive so that they can continue to provide help for the autism community and provide mental health supports for you, me and the community at large.
We are so thankful to all my friends and family who continue to generously support us in mind and spirit in our journey year after year. It is hard to believe that this year 2022, marks our 25th wedding anniversary. Matthew is 21, Riley is 19, and I am retiring to spend time with the boys to prepare them for the future. Here is to health, continued wellness and to family and friends.
Your support and good wishes is a blessing to all of us,
With much gratitude,
Carolyn, Edwin, Matthew and Riley.
*Funds raised through EMBODY YOGA will fund Early Years Interventions. Early Years programs and services provide supports and individualized services for families and children with complex needs, coordinating programs for children presenting with barriers to healthy development, problems with social self-regulation and social communications, amongst others, with occupational therapy, speech and language, and child and family centers presenting opportunities for social interaction. Matthew and Riley were fortunate to be able to access early intervention when it was most impactful to their development.
