Story
So a lot of people know that 2015 was the worst year of my
life.....my gorgeous and courageous big bro (Toby) lost his battle against
cancer.
Why Royal Marsden? This is the hospital that
looked after Toby and where they do such amazing research projects that I hope that in due course, a cure can be found and no other family has to endure the
pain and grief of losing someone with so much to offer so young.
Why Paris? In 2014 Toby and I were both training for the Paris
marathon when he was first diagnosed and neither of us ran.
Why now? A lot of people don't know that my last conversation with Toby was
letting him know I was just 5 weeks pregnant with my gorgeous little boy
Arthur.
Little Arthur is nearly 1 and so I thought now or never!
I do have the Smith determination/ I am mad - juggling motherhood,
back to work and training..... although sadly, I do not have Toby's
sporting prowess but I am hoping to complete the course in circa 4 hours
30 (don't hold me to it!).
Emily: I have roped a new mum and Lytham pal into this madness and Emily
Brook is also running in memory of her beloved Dad who passed away and who was
also cared for by Royal Marsden.
We have been training in rain and shine, through injury (note to self
- baby weight and long runs...not fun!) ...so please....if you can spare
a few quid please donate to this very worthy cause.......
Wish us luck - We will need it!
