Harding University: CFIT Pacemaker Simulators · 25 November 2022 to 2 December 2022 ·

The cardiac function and interventional technology (CFIT) master's program is seeking donations to purchase pacemaker patient simulators to connect to industry donated programmers to train students to set and interrogate pacemakers.

Story

Cardiac Function and Interventional Technology is the worlds first, industry based, 10-month, master's cohort program. The inaugural class of 14 students from across the US began August 2022. The students are being trained in the classroom, simulation lab and clinical centers across central Arkansas. The cardiac device industry has partnered with Harding by providing programmers and in-person support. Industry professionals are on campus regularly with involvement ranging from leading pig heart dissections to lecturing on cardiac device topics. Currently our lab has 15 pacemaker programmers from the four major industry leaders. We currently have 10 patient simulators connected to pacemakers. The pacemakers are connected to 10 programmers so students can be trained to set and interrogate pacemakers. We are seeking funds to purchase 5 more simulators so that all students can train simultaneously.
