Story
It will be 10 years in November since we lost Mark. 10 years without him in my life seems impossible to fathom. I honestly can't believe it has been that long since I heard him laugh.
SJH were an incredible source of support to us in the last few weeks of his life - their Hospice at Home team meant that Mark was able to stay at home when he became really ill, and the compassionate and caring way they helped his sister Michele and I during those final 2 weeks, made the most awful situation feel somehow more bearable. After Mark died, I was supported by their Bereavement Team and had regular sessions with the most incredible woman, who helped me make sense of what had happened to us - and who spent almost 2 years propping me up until I felt strong enough to venture back into the real world.
In a perfect world, we shouldn't have to raise money to support the hospice - it should be fully funded. But, this isn't a perfect world and I want to do everything I can to ensure that anyone & everyone who needs the help of the amazing team at SJH have that opportunity.
I am taking on the Moonlight Walk 2021 for St John's Hospice and have pledged to personally raise a minimum of £35. How can your donation help? £2 buys a lovely cup of tea and biscuits for a visiting relative or patient. £5 could buy a simple hand-held fan to keep a patient cool and comfortable. £10 could help buy craft materials for Hospice patients staying on the ward to use.
